AFLoNext at ECCOMAS 2014

The event took place on 21-25 July 2014 in Barcelona, Spain.
AFLoNext was promoted at the large European event involving the 11th World Congress on Computational Mechanics (WCCM2014), the 5th European Conference on Computational Mechanics (ECCM V) and the 6th European Conference on Computational Fluid Dynamics (ECFD VI). The event was organized by the International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM) together with the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS) and took place on 21-25 July 2014 in Barcelona, Spain.

Part of the event was also a series of Special Technological Sessions (STS). In the STS06 “Flow Control and Drag Reduction” chaired by Geza Schrauf (Airbus Operations GmbH) the official AFloNext video gave the audience an overview on the AFloNext project with its objectives, partners and technology streams. More details on dedicated technology streams were afterwards given in a presentation by Michael Meyer (Airbus Group Innovations) on “Designing and Testing Active Flow Control Systems at the Junction of Ultra-High Bypass Ratio Engines and the Wing” and in a presentation by Geza Schrauf (Airbus Operations GmbH) on “Validation of simplified hybrid laminar flow for transport aircraft”. Video, presentations along with distributed leaflets raised people’s interest significantly and a lot of positive feedback was expressed in personal discussions.
