Preliminary Design Review
Events 1st October, 2014
On 24th and
25th of September, a PDR was held for Simplified HLFC Wing
Concept Integration (TS2)
This PDR Workshop was hosted by INCAS in Bucharest and
visited by participants from 8
different countries.
The main objective was the assessment and evaluation
of two different designs for Krueger-Systems (high-lift systems for the leading
edge) and on the evaluation of suction system concepts to enable HLFC. In WP 1.2 (related to TS2) a simplified HLFC concept will be developed
with focus on HLFC functionality and on integration in a real-life environment
on an existing wing leading edge. Here the design and integration of a suction
system is essential for the success of this work package. Another important
factor for a successful integration is the high-lift system on the leading edge. The high-lift system in combination with HLFC has two main functions: first to generate enough lift during take-off
and landing, secondly to shield the HLFC system (porous outer skin) against
environmental pollution. With the introduction of a Krueger system, both aspects will be met. In WP 1.2 two different Krueger systems have been designed to a maturity (with
respect to main functions and integration aspects), that a PDR and a selection
was done.
