AFLoNext session at CEAS 2017 - programme available!
Events 2nd October, 2017
The AFLoNext partners are organizing project-dedicated sessions during the CEAS conference. Two sessions will be held on Wednesday 18 October 2017 and will be dedicated to the AFLoNext WP2 “Active Flow Control On Airframe”. The third session will be held on Thursday 19 October 2017 and will be dedicated to the AFLoNext WP5 “Multifunctional Trailing Edge Concepts”.

Context:
AFLoNext WP2 targets local flow separation control
at local areas of the wing to improve the low-speed performance. The first area
addressed is the wing/pylon/engine junction, where the interruption of the
leading edge high-lift device causes an early flow separation limiting the wing
performance that is even more pronounced as engine diameters grow for the sake
of fuel reduction. The second area is the wing tip region, as the
implementation of more sophisticated wing tip shapes prevent the inclusion of a
high-lift system.
AFLoNext WP5 addresses flow control in the cruise
regime for stabilizing the shock-boundary layer interaction for buffet control.
